Magazine changes

After doing more research into Cosmopolitan magazine i found that it was notorious for talking about sex and men, so i immediately decided it wasn't appropriate for our audience of 9-16. Therefore i did some more research into teenage magazine in the UK, we only wanted it to be produced in the UK as it is extremely unlikely that a band breaks other countries before they become known in their home country.

First of all i found Bliss Magazine, which is UK produced and appeals to exactly our audience range. However i again found that the last issue was produced in July 2014.

The second magazine i found was Seventeen magazine which was exactly the type of magazine we wanted our interview to appear in. The only problem was that it is produced in America so we had to rule out that option.

Finally i found an English magazine, that appealed to our audience range and was still being produced:

Photoshoot 2 Inspiration

After sitting down yesterday and going through everything that needed to be done we decided we need to have another photo shoot as we have used similar photos for all of our promotional features.
So we began to think of locations that would fit with our band which at first we struggled with as we had already used the green screen and most outdoor locations would be associated with indie bands. So we looked at some images of Little Mix's latest album Get weird for some inspiration:

We really liked the idea of the sofa and the we remembered one in the school that we used previously for our interview that we could use. We think this will provide a nice contrast to the images we already have. For our outfits we decided not to have a continuous colour or pattern but just try and portray our different images through our clothes and expressions.

Promoting our music video

In the days leading up to the release of our music video we wanted to use our social media accounts to really build a buzz about it.
We looked at ways different artists do this as found that Justin Beiber used this technique for his single 'what do you mean?'.

We chose to use to this to promote 'Light Me Up' we asked our friends to pose with the poster with the #lightmeup to encourage people to talk about it on Twitter.

Website Updates

From our feedback we found we needed a more obvious place that our fans could sign up, so we created a new page which had only one link on it, enabling it to become simple and clear how you can sign up.

We titled it ' Become a Sweetie' 'Sweetie's' is the name we came up with for our fans. We took inspiration from people like Taylor Swift who calls her fans 'Swifties' and Justin Bieber who calls his fans 'Beliebers' it makes the fans feel as though they have a purpose to the band, which they do.

We also found we needed to add something else to the tour dates page:

So wee added our logo, which is the lips and some silly images of us of us, which are also used on the previous girls page.

In the feedback people said that my silly image wasn't of the same quality as the other two, so I re shot the image and then we placed it onto the website and it was a much better quality than before and fit better with the other two images.

Logo

Throughout the website we have used a kiss, which we think relates to the genre and audience of our band. So we have decided this we be a continuous logo throughout our products, this will help with continuity.

On our website the kiss is pink with a white background, however for our digipack we need it to be purple with a black background to fit with the colour scheme so i have changed this around:

We chose this as it goes with our the girly theme of our band. Our audience is 9-16 so we think this will appeal to this age range, it is simple, cute and sweet which relates our name: sweet nothing.

This week

Today we sat down as a group and organised what needed to be done this week and when each of us could complete it. We drew out this plan so we could see when we each had frees, luckily a lot of them overlap so we can work together on things. From now till Wednesday we will be working on the digipak and website as that is the deadline. From then on till Friday we will be editing the footage ready for the deadline on Friday.

Digipak first draft

This is our first draft for our digipak. We still need to add one more picture and then improve the quality and see what we should change from the feedback we receive.

Digipak plan

This is our digipak plan, it is labelled with aspects we will include and a rough outline of the images we will use.

After a lot of research we have decided that our digipak is going to be based around bright coloure, this is to represent who we are as a band. We need to continue the synergy throughout our products  we it will also have a lot of lights. As a band we not only have one colour to unite us but one to represent each of us indivdually as well. On our digipak we want to show these so our audience can then relate us to our colours and personalitites. We took inspiration for this from artists like JLS, where each member also has there own colour to represent themselves, these colours are represented on their album, merchandise and clothing.

In this album cover they are all united as band by facing the same way and wearing the same colour. No member appears more important than the other as they all have the same expressons and frmaing. Although they aren't dressed in their individual colours they is still a small hint of them in the underlining of JLS, this shows that they don't have to be in their colours for the audience to identify them. We want our audience to be able to do this.
Our album cover will appear something like this:

Merchandise

For our website, we wanted a store page so for this we needed some merchandise.
The hoodies can be ordered in a range of colours

Website changes

When looking at the first draft of our website we decided that the front cover wasn't what we wanted it to be, for this reason we changed the picture to a more professional image we had where the poses make us appear more like a girl band than a group of friends taking a picture. It has also been edited do our faces aren't as shiny and no green can be seen from the green screen. We added a light flare to contrast from the dark background and it makes it tie in with our theme of lights.

We have also changed the background on the rest of the pages, before it was white with small sparkles of light however you couldn't see the white writing for the rest of the links, so we changed it to a dark purple colour still with a sparkling light effect to continue to tie in with our theme of lights so we have continuity throughout.

Christmas Newsletter

Sophie created a Christmas newsletter we can send out to our fans over the Christmas period, they will receive this once they sign up to our newsletter. It contains information about our latest album, merchandise, and competitions.

Track List

I am in charge of making the digipack so for this i had to make a tracklist, to do this i took inspiration from the bands i had already researched and their albums; Little Mix, The Saturdays and Neon Jungle. They all had a different number of songs on their first album, i decided to go with 12 as it is still a lot of songs which allows our audience to really get to know our sound and decide if they like it or not. I tried to not make the names of the songs to complex so they still appeal to our audience.

Costumes- Liv

Night Club Scene-
As Liv is the diva she was the most dressed up in this scene as divas normally care a lot about there appearance. She has slightly heavier make up than me and Sophie and wore sparkly, high heels.

UV scene-
Again Liv wore black to contrast the light wall and UV

Silhouette scene-

Outside Scene-
Liv wore white as well but her make-up was similar to the night club scene so it was slightly heavier than mine and sophies.

White wall-
For this scene Liv wore a play suit and heels, she was the only one wearing heels as it adds to her diva persona.

Costumes- Sophie

Night Club Scene-
Sophie is the girly member so this has to come across in her clothing, she wore a white lacy dress as it is very girly yet it still shows that she is in a club having a good time. She wore pink heels as pink is stereo typically a girls colour.

 UV scene-
Again sophie wore black to contrast the light wall and the UV paint.

Silhouette scene-
Sophie wore lace again in this scene as it made the black less harsh for her girl persona, she also wore a skirt as it is something a girly girl would wear.

Outside Scene-
For this we all wore white so Sophie decided to wear the something similar to the lacy dress she previously wore in the night club scene but this time put a white cardigan over it to make it more casual, she also wore converse.

White Wall-
For this sophie again wore lace but this time it had a colour so it gives a slight edge to her girly side however it was still pink so the girlishness was still evident.
